What do the "Cost is per" options mean?

Currently there are five (5) "Cost is per" options:

Named Registrant - When someone signs up for your event, s/he is required to provide each attendee's name. The cost is calculated on a per-attendee basis. This is the most commonly used option.
Named Registrant and per Registration - When someone signs up for your event, s/he is required to provide each attendee's name. The cost is calculated on a per-attendee basis, and there is also an additional fee assessed per registration.
Unnamed Registrant - When someone signs up for your event, s/he is only required to provide the number of attendees. The cost is calculated on a per-attendee basis.
Unnamed Registrant and per Registration - When someone signs up for your event, s/he is only required to provide the number of attendees. The cost is calculated on a per-attendee basis, and there is also an additional fee assessed per registration.
Registration (Skip Individual Registrants) - The registrant is not required to provide any information about the attendees. A flat fee is assessed on a per-registration basis.

Problem with Mail Merge using the data downloaded from Doubleknot

On Windows XP SP2, when you use the Excel data file downloaded from Doubleknot for Mail Merge, it may ask you to reconnect to the data source since it cannot find the file. This is a known behavior with Attachment Manager. Please see the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883260/ for more details.

To correct this issue:

Right-click the blocked source file, and then click Properties.
In the General tab, click Unblock.

I have been having trouble accessing Doubleknot since I upgraded to Windows Vista. How do I resolve this?

Instructions for Signing Up for a Google Analytics Account

1. Go to http://www.google.com

2. Click on “Sign In” in the upper right corner

3. Select “Create an account Now” and follow the instructions.

4. Create an Analytics Account by going to http://www.google.com/analytics. At the end of the process you will receive some java script. Copy this java script into an email and send it to doubleknot@doubleknot.com. Be certain to include your organization’s name.

5. After we install your account, it will take one day before you can begin to see site hit information after you log into your Google Analytics account. Note: support for Google Analytics is provided by Google documentation. If you need additional support, keep on the lookout for the Doubleknot University Site Analytics Class.

How can I make class selections mandatory in Program Management?

In Program Management, class selections are optional by default. However, you can make selections mandatory by following these steps.

To extract the images from your Word document:

Go to Create & Edit Programs.
Choose the program from the list, select the Edit option on the right, and click OK.
On the next page, you will see the option for Minimum no. of Classes that must be registered for at the bottom. The value is set to 0 by default. Update this value to the minimum number of sub-programs each registrant must select in order to complete the registration process.
Click Save.

Important notes for programs with multiple time periods:

Please note that if your program is set up with multiple time periods (e.g. Period 1-6 in University of Scouting), classes spanning across multiple time periods will count as one (1) selection. There also may be instances where all the classes are full for some time periods. Therefore, rather than setting the minimum number of class selections to the exact number of time periods, you may simply want to set it to 1. This will ensure all the registrants to select some classes.

If I create a new Roster Year, will it automatically expire the current roster?

The members of the current year will still be able to access the site, but with only limited access priveleges. You may want to make sure all the administrators/leaders are added to the new roster.

How do I upload the images in my Word document?

When adding/editing your website using our built-in editor, you may copy and paste the content directly from your Word document. However, you will need to upload the images separately. Please follow the steps below to extract the images from your Word document.

To extract the images from your Word document:

Save your Word document as a Web page by going to File > Save as Web Page. It will create a folder with all the image files. The folder name should be same as [your document name]_files (e.g. if your document name is mywebpage1, the folder will be called mywebpage1_files).
Open our built-in editor and click on the Upload Images button.
Upload the images located in the folder just created. If there are two versions of the same image, use the smaller one. (Word automatically adjusts the size of the images so they are more suitable for web pages.)
Insert each image into the page by placing the cursor in the desired location and clicking on the Insert Local Image icon.
Click on the Save button to save the document. You may discard the Web Page and the file folder after all the image files have been uploaded.

There appears to be a duplicate charge

There are situations when it may appear that a debit card has duplicate charges when in fact there is only one charge. The “duplicate” charge is not an actual charge but a “pending charge” or “authorization.” This occurs as a result of an attempt to complete a transaction that has been declined. Understanding why this can occur requires a little understanding of how payment processing works.

For a credit or debit card transaction Doubleknot verifies the following information:

The available credit,
The street address,
The code zip code, and
The three or four digit card security code.

In credit and debit card payment processing, the street address, zip code and security code verification are optional and left to the discretion of the merchant or, in this case, Doubleknot’s discretion. There a number of reasons why it is the merchant’s discretion but it is primarily due to the fact that:

Most merchants do not require this information for “card present” transactions meaning the cardholder and card are physically present for signature and/or identification checking, and
Across the globe not all banks support this additional level of verification.

As such, if there is available credit or funds in the account the transaction is approved by the bank regardless of whether or not there was positive verification of the street address, zip code and security code. However, along with the approval code the results of the street address, zip code and security code verification are returned.

When a transaction is approved and either the street address, zip code or security code verification fail, Doubleknot will decline the transaction. Doubleknot will send a message back to the bank to void the transaction. Sometimes the voids are not processed as quickly and the “pending charge” remains for a day or two before it disappears.
